Have you ever heard the saying "there's no place like home"? Well we at EmPOWERment, Inc. believe that every family deserves a home of their own. Since we opened our doors in 1996, EmPOWERment, Inc. has been a part of many successes. We are especially pleased with the success of our homebuyers program. We have assisted over 200 families in Chatham, Orange, and Alamance Counties through the process of homeownership. Each homeowner is a graduate of our Homebuyers' Classes (HBC). The HBC consists of eight (8) hours of class time that provides step-by-step guidelines to purchasing your first home.

We are very proud of the fact that our homeowners and HBC graduates have been our best resource for marketing our program. As a result, over 600 families have completed our Homebuyer classes. After completing the classes, each family is given the opportunity to attend FREE, Unlimited one-on-one counseling sessions with our certified Housing Counselor. For most families these sessions include budget counseling, an important component in saving for down payment and closing costs, and later for emergencies once you have obtained your dream of homeownership. Lastly, we continue to provide support even after a family has purchased their home.

Each new homeowner is given the opportunity to join our Homeowners Club. If they decide that they do not want to join, they are encouraged to take advantage of our workshops and post homeownership counseling. Follow-up calls are made periodically to help resolve any outstanding any post-purchase issues. Once again, these services are FREE to income eligible families (with the exception of the $10 fee to cover class materials)!!! Our devoted staff is committed to building stronger communities through homeownership.
