The Career Explorers program is a collaborative effort between community residents, EmPOWERment, Inc., area Police Departments and local merchants to provide structured summer employment opportunities for youth from traditionally low wealth neighborhoods in Orange County, North Carolina. The intent of the program is to offer indiduals age 15 to 21 employments. The Career Explorers program also allows local businesses committed to the community, an opportunity to give back while gaining valuable work experience from the Career Explorers Interns. This will allow the disadvantaged youth from households that earn less than 80% of the Area Mean Income an opportunity to discover valuable life career skills that will better prepare them for engaging employment throughout life, teach financial skills to better manage their money, and gain valuable work experience.
